Fortress "Peristitsa"

Located close next to the former monastery "St. Todor." It is very likely that the fortress was built by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I (527-565 AD). For the first time her name was mentioned in the XIII century and is associated with the rule of the Bulgarian king Michael Asen II. Peristitsa is also mentioned in 1344 when the castle was given by the Byzantines to Bulgarian king Tsar Ivan Alexander.

Peristitsa fortress stands on a high, rocky, naturally inaccessible peak. Of the former giant wall, which was more than two meters thick, now only the basis of it remain.
